Saturday's Epic WOD a la moi

All my CrossFit Mt Pleasant buddies got to endure this little beauty.

EPIC WOD THANKS TO KELLEY SHAW!!!!!! LOVE THIS!!!!! LET’S GET TO IT AND DO IT!
8:30AM AND 9:30AM CLASSES TODAY!

150 BURPEES
150 PUSHUPS
150 BOX JUMPS
150SQUATS
BREAK UP HOWEVER YOU WISH
3 Rounds of 50, 5 rounds of 30, 10 rounds of 15 or 15 rounds of 10.
SEE YOU AT THE BOX!

Finished 36:41 - 3 rounds of 50 I was done and done! PLUS I ran the 2.68 miles to the gym 1st! Thanks to my GF Amy for taking me home. There was no running left in me.

BURPEE MADNESS & Total Body Murder
This was my workout yesterday and WOW. Wow. It was seriously tough.
Normally soreness takes 24 hours to ‘set’ in, but this little combo has me feeling the burn early. I woke up this morning feeling it EVERYWHERE.
Yes. :)
Challenge: try it! It’s tough, but do-able. You can modify any of the moves to suit your level/needs.: step back instead of jumping for the burpees, use body weight for the squats, do modified pushups, and do step-ups/squats for the box jumps.
Advanced: fewer rounds, higher reps.
Beginner: more rounds, lower reps.
*I used 15lb dumbbells for the squats. Weights are optional though.
Round Options
  • 3 rounds of 50 reps each
  • 5 rounds of 30 reps each 
  • 1 round of 50, then 5 rounds of 20
  • 10 rounds of 15 reps each
  • 15 rounds of 10 reps each

Thirsty Thursday (a day late)

I am thirsty for some workouts!! I have been struggling to find the time (and energy) to go to my Gym CrossFit Mt Pleasant. I have been scouring the web to find workouts that I can do at home. Hoping that I would be able to carve out some time to workout. That is not happening either. So I am holding myself accountable here. This is not a workout blog so I am doing it for my own personal benefit and if you see anything you like go ahead and try it. It really does look fun so far.

Today -- 2 workouts ... WHAT! yep that is right 2.
First - BodyRock.tv is starting a 30 day Challenge for May. So I did day 1 - Fit Test. It kicked my Booty. Let me interject here about BodyRock. These women are amazing looking. There is no way I will ever be this fit. I can sure try but I can't picture it.
Day 1: Fit Test - Beginner. Even though I have been Crossfitting for almost 2 years now. 50 seconds on 10 seconds off 4 exercises 3 rounds. Easy right -- NOT.
Squats
Push Up
Dips
Abs
Not bad. My arms were burning during the push ups and dips. This  right here is why I know  going to my gym is better than home workouts. I can slack off at home.

Workout 2: B'in Burpees. i only had 15 mins left at lunch so I did 1 Round in 4:43

I am really liking this site for workouts.

Now all I need to do is figure out how to get better at Clean Eating. I am trying but I am so easily tempted.


***I started this yesterday but I had a sick lil man so this was put on the back burner.

GOTCT: Get Off The Couch Tuesdays

Hello lovelies!
There was no Case of the Mondays around here yesterday. I lit a fire that will not be put out easily. I have found a new obsession... FitVillains. I love her workouts, her videos she posts, everything. MrM keeps asking me what I am doing on the computer -- umm I am planning my next workout.

So, GOTCT is my first workout.
Fit Villains
Today at lunch, I only had time to complete 2 rounds in 18 mins. That is still 680 Reps - not too shabby. I do work where I cannot be completely stinky all day long.

The kids have been keeping me really busy lately so I have been trying to find other ways to continue my love for Crossfit. This way I can do it at home with my kids or alone, but that never happens. Wanted to share this little workout with all you other busy folk out there.

GOTCT - I was looking for a nickname for Tuesday. I kind of like it! There is already Case of the Mondays, Humpday, TGIF.... Now what to do about that  Thursday?

My First Interview...ever!!!


So my girlfriend Bailey wanted to do an interview on me before I had the baby. She works for an online media company StepAhead.


Name (duh): Kelley Shaw
Age:  33

How long have you Cross Fitting?:
Full time since January 2011 initially started Spring 2010 while Tina was still at Mt Pleasant Rec

What made you start?:
My husband travels  A LOT for work and my girls are with their Dad on Thurs nights so I got a girlfriend and took up Cross Fit on my night off. I had seen a fitness class advertised for a Boot Camp and it looked fun to try out.

Why did you pick Cross Fit Mt. Pleasant?:
I was impressed with Tina’s enthusiasm and drive for her students. I liked her ‘you can do it’ attitude and does not take excuses. She holds me accountable.

How far along are you with your pregnancy?:
7.5 months – 10 more weeks!!

When is the due date?:
Sept 20, 2011

How far in did you start scaling your WODs?:
I don’t like scaling my WODS. My personal Goal on the board this week – Minimally Scale my WODs this week. I do try to do a least one full round not on a Scale level. I cut back on the weights and AB work probably at 5 months. I just started scaling my runs due to the Heat outside and the extra weight I am carrying.                                                                                                        

What has your OB said about your Cross Fitting?:
She continues to stress that I need to stay hydrated and not over heat. Otherwise, she is supportive.

Any complications with the pregnancy?:
No complications, a little discomfort as I get further along.

What's the hardest movement to do while being pregnant?: 
Hang Snatches or Overhead Squats due to holding so much weight above my head and lifting weights in one movement from the ground to overhead. Also – Box jumps on the medium and large box due to the added weight and unbalance. My Least Favorite is Jumping Rope just because I pee my pants.
How much weight have you put on being pregnant (just to show you're within the normal weight range so people don't think your anorexic haha)
22 lbs so far

Has Tina being pregnant too helped you stay motivated?:
Absolutely. Actually the main reason I came back to the gym was because Amy Bevis was planning to get pregnant and so was Tina. I was in the same boat. I was so impressed at how physically fit Amy had gotten as she continued Cross Fit and I had taken a break to focus on Running. I knew Tina would help me stay on track with my current fitness routines that I was managing on my own. Plus  I would hopefully have a built in network of pregnant woman who can support me with my fitness goals. Tina and all the other members have been great to ensure I am not pushing myself too hard. The hardest part has been having to slow down.

Do you plan on taking a break at all before giving birth?:
Not really. I do get the question when I show up  as the weeks progress into my pregnancy “You are still doing this?” Yes I am. I have just hit a wall in the last week where my body is telling me I am tired. So I am opening up to scaling my WODS more. I plan to focus on my form and not so much speed or weights.


And these little treasures are what we worked so hard for.....
