Our Busy Weekend … Katy Perry and Sleepovers

Blackbeards Cove Sleepover (2)

Katy Perry Dance a long (15)

I just love it when the girls get to cut loose and have a little fun. Not that 8 and 9 year olds need to take time to have fun but with our current busy schedule it is nice to focus on the fun vs. all the Go Go Go lifestyle.

So … LilMissJ went to a sock hop over at Dance Anatomy. A new dance studio that opened up by our house. It was a beautiful location, I only wish they were closer for her to join. This weekend was Hollywood night – come dressed as your favorite Celebrity…..So we chose Blue haired Katy Perry. Look at our transformation. Fingers Crossed the color comes out!

MrM. got so excited when he saw the blue hair spray. He wanted be in charge of the painting of the hair. We used the entire can. Imagine that.

We have Katy Perry1, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry 2

Now onto BigGirlH. She had a sleepover and  the rest of the family went to Blackbeard's Cove for Family night. Who can pass up

2 hours unlimited golf, go-karts, climbing wall, jump land and indoor playground and a 16" hand-tossed pizza and 4 fountain drinks

ALL FOR JUST $19.95

So we headed out as a family of 4 sans LilMissJ.

Hope was driving SO fast I could barely get a clear picture of her

Blackbeards Cove Sleepover (12)

I waited in line for 45 mins while my family played so we didn’t waste all of our time in line. Not everyone has a mom who is 8 months pregnant and cannot ride rides.

I then went and ordered our pizza and drinks. Had a nice little rest at the outdoor picnic tables. At this time Mr.M had to go get LilMissJ from her Dance party. He  got to experience his 1st “I’m too cool for you.” It was so weird to see her so dressed up for no real occasion. I am not ready for all of this. In the long run Mr.M. does not put up with he I’m too cool for you attitude bc he can make you miserable until you give it up. We all had a good laugh about it all. The rest of us all played putt putt until they got back. All in all a FUN night. It made for a long day on Saturday which was my Baby Shower. That is another post for another day.

Week 31 ... 9 more weeks OR 61 more days ...

Can you all feel the excitement???  Mr.M. and I love this show and have thoroughly enjoyed the reruns but I can tell you I am looking forward to some new material. Now.... we will either be A) in the hospital having this baby B) Sitting on the couch anxiously awaiting its arrival or C) holding the little bugger in my arms in the comfort of my home. I can tell you the latter of the 3 sounds the most appealing.

Cannot wait for our BIG REVEAL. The lil BoomBoomShaw is the size of 4 navel oranges (approx 3.3 pounds) and measure more or less 16 inches long. Now if I only knew where the other 20ish pounds went?? And BONUS - baby will be hitting yet another growth spurt! These are my favorite on the scale and my hormones. I get so ravenous at the weirdest times during a growth spurt. It is all for the baby so bring it on.
Finished the comforter for BoomBoomShaw last night. I will post a proper post dedicated to Crib bedding once it is all complete. I am taking a break for maternity clothes making as I am still hot and still not wearing pants. HA ... this sounds funnier than the reality. We are having heat indexes of 110+ degrees.

Stay tuned for a busy week at the Shaw House .... we have a baby shower, sleepovers, sewing and lots more.

Sunday Night Dinner ~ Yummers

My Dear Hubs aka Mr.M. is getting ready to go back to working life on the road. To show him my appreciation for spending time with me all weekend instead of the OTHER woman in his life…. not to worry –it is only the golf course. I am making him a FANTABULOUS dinner.
Seafood Pasta 011
This morning I made him a wonderful omelet with yogurt parfait, a bagel thin and French press coffee. This should be the only way you should drink coffee.
Now onto Dinner tonight – Seafood and Sausage Pasta.

First we started with Fresh Shrimp and peeled and deveined them. Then took the hot chicken sausage out of the casing and cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Chopped up all the veggies – Red and Yellow peppers, Shallots, Green onions, Garlic, and lemon. The remaining ingredients included parmesan cheese, linguine pasta, Emeril Essence, olive oil, heavy cream, parsley and my all time FAVORITE and desperately missed side to each meal – dry white wine. Heck – I miss all wine.
Let me tell you a little story about this white wine used into tonight's dinner. On my limited budget before  marrying Mr.M. I would drink Monkey Bay Sauvignon Blanc because it was affordable and DELISH. On my first trip to Canada with  Mr.M., we had gone to dinner and I was in sticker shock at some of the prices. Here is a prime example:
canada 209
This is our $35.00 bottle of Monkey Bay. We had to take a picture because I was laughing so hard. Mr.M. did not believe me  that we drank this wine back home for ….wait for it….. $9.99!! I love it. So tonight I got it for us ..err him and our meal.
Seafood Pasta 003
Mine on the left. Ice Cold Diet Tonic Water with Fresh Squeezed Lime and Mr.M’s on the right. A fine Sauvignon Blanc White Wine. Yes I am a good mommy to be.
He came home from hockey tonight to a home cooked meal, wine and dessert. He absolutely loved it even with him not being a huge shrimp fan. BoomBoomShaw has been kicking away so the baby must have enjoyed it as well. Have a great evening. I am going to put my feel up and relax while Mr.M. does the dishes.

Hello My name Is... Baby Blanket for BoomBoomShaw

hello
Blanket for BoomBoomShaw Thanks to Jessica over at Me Sew Crazy for this blanky idea.
Jessica did not provide a tutorial for her blanket but she did offer up some advice in her comments. Amazing there were others out  there that had the same questions as I did.
She didn't make a tutorial, as she had assumed there would be tons out there already. But a Google search for a T Shirt knit blanket turned up NIL, she could only find T Shirt Quilts.
So here we go with the best chance for success.
She basically cut the same size squares out of her old T Shirts - and sewed them together, First in rows. Then sewed the rows together, until she had the size blanket she wanted.  As you can see it is a 7 x 6 rows.
blanky2
Once you have that – she cut another piece of knit fabric the same size - and placed it underneath - wrong sides together.
She then used a knit ribbing around all the edges for my bias tape to finish it off. ** I had to Google what this was and where to find it. You can buy it online and do not need to make it.
And lastly, she did a quick back and forth stitch at each of the square T Shirt corners, to keep the blanket from separating.
Easy peasy! For a basic knit blanket tut - you can find one here, it is the same technique - minus the T Shirt squares.

Hope this helps!
I cannot wait to make one of these for my little Bug. Stay Tuned to my finished Blanky.
