Peach Cobbler Anyone?

Thanks to Erin over at this little blog for the recipe!! I love Holidays. They make me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. As a child my mom always made a big deal about all holidays. I would not say she was over  the top Martha Stewart but we made each one special on their own. I have been counting down the days until this weekend, so I am starting early. Plus, BoomBoomShaw could practically smell the cobbler through the monitor. I had all the ingredients on hand including  FRESH PEACHES since I have been working really hard  to eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies for the baby. Now can this Georgia Peach make her own Cobbler??

Ingredients: Milk, Flour, Butter, Sugar and PEACHES

Following Directions on the IPAD

All the Steps needed for this Goody Goodness

Add the PEACHES ready to bake
And Finally here is the end results... Look at all that golden brown goodness. SMILE

Recipe:
Peach Cobbler
1 stick butter, melted
1 cup sugar
1 cup self-rising flour
1 cup milk
2 cups peaches (fresh is best)

Whisk sugar, flour and milk together. Stir in the melted butter and pour into a greased 9 x 12 pan. Sprinkle the peaches on top. Sprinkle extra sugar on top if you wish. Bake at 350 for 40-50 minutes.

Thanks Erin - It was YUMMY!!

Washington DC Our Nations Capital

The Shaw's went on a Family Vacation to Washington DC. It was a very educational trip for the entire family. Mr.M's parents traveled all the way from Canada to have a visit with the granddaughter's and us of course. This was the first time they got up close and personal with the baby bump ~ BoomBoomShaw.

One can dream right?
As you may recall I mentioned that the Shaw Girls would be  riding on the train to DC. Here is a little montage of our 1st ever experience with AMTRAK. As you can see we all had a great time. We played games, read books, watched movies and Explored the train. A few tips I learned after our first experience,  bring layers. Meaning, a jacket or blanket. They keep these trains very cool. We carried on our luggage so I had plenty of layers to share with the girls.Another tip, bring a cooler. I packed a lunchbox with Uncrustables, grapes, juice boxes, some cakes cut up. We also brought dry snacks like SCRABBLE Cheezits - a game and snack all in one. Lastly, the girls and I made our own  trail mix.

We are so lucky we had the opportunity to go to some of the Smithsonian Museum's and other Monuments. Upon our return and 300+ pictures later, I think I am in less than 10 total. I created a photo book off MyPublisher. It has not arrived  yet but I am going to share some highlights from the trip.

Back Home in Charleston

I did spend the entire time just eagerly waiting to get to The White House. I was slightly disappointed at how far away it was. In the movies it seems so much more up close and personal. BigGirlH wanted to see President Obama very badly.

Also, while we were away, we celebrated Mr.M's birthday in China Town. YUMMY. When we returned to Charleston the family celebrated Mr.M. The girls wanted to show  him just how  much they love him. We all love him and appreciate him. Please excuse the bottom left picture, someone got a little sun burnt. Birthday and Father's Day all wrapped into one weekend. Whew we are tired.

Minky Dot Elephant

It all started with this picture on Pinterest.

Pinterest
Then I decided to try to make one for BoomBoomShaw --especially since I just bought some White Minky Dot fabric last weekend at Hancock's Fabric. Amazingly, I was not the only one with Elephants on the brain this week as ChicCheap Nursery  displayed  the same thing. How cute are these???

Chic Cheap Nursery
I got all my creative juices flowing since I had to stay out of BoomBoomShaw's nursery as Mr.M was painting it and the fumes would be too strong. I needed a big distraction especially since I always do all the painting in our household and do not give up control of these types of projects very easily. SO.... I decided to tackle the Ellie...
I started with a picture and decided to make my own pattern. It seemed a lot easier in my mind than in real life. Take picture and make a few copies. Cut out body and ears or anything else you want to cut / sew seperately. I even added a 1/4" seam allowance. Note to self... when cutting out fabric for any shape besides a square .... flip the pattern. I learned this the hard way that is why my sister is now getting an elephant for her Baby.

Pattern

Pattern with fabric cut incl 1/4" seam allowance
PreAssembled without sewing
Ribbons to be added for BoomBoomShaw interaction
Time to assemble all the pieces. Again, in my head it was so much more simpler than reality.

Mr.M was so excited to see the finished product when he came home from Hockey. I would not call this a professional job but I am happy with the outcome and the baby will like it too.

Week 27

I am a walking talking sporting event and I feel like one too. Last week the baby was the size of a Soccer Ball and this week a Basketball. I do not see the difference in size on paper BUT let me tell you ~ inside me, I feel it. And so does the Scale - WOWSERS....biggest jump I have seen in a long time. This week I have Nicknamed the baby BoomBoomShaw after Mr.M's nickname. Why is he called that? I had no idea except that he is the SlapShot king at Hockey. Again I ask ... BoomBoom??

Joseph André Bernard Geoffrion

Canadian Professional Hockey Player who was considered the innovator of the Slapshot. Of course he played for the Montreal Canadiens too. And now the guys have passed that onto MR.M and I am passing it onto my little wiggle worm inside me.

Here's hoping you all have a wonderful weekend!!
